Telefônica Vivo Datacenter

The Telefônica Vivo Datacenter is a world benchmark for environmental preservation. It is the first datacenter in Latin America to be LEED certified for sustainable construction.

 

It is also the only datacenter in Latin America to receive Tier II certification in the Design and Constructed Facility categories proving that the construction strictly followed the project requirements and that the building is prepared for preventive and corrective maintenance without the need to interrupt activities.

 

Energy efficiency is also a project highlight and it is 25% greater than the world average.

 

The facility comprises a 5-story administration building, a reception hall, 250 workstations, meeting rooms, support rooms, a clinic, cafeteria, and technical rooms.

    This datacenter building achieved Tier Operational Sustainability Gold certification, the highest certification level for a building of its kind. This is the first Tier III certified datacenter in Latin America and the sixth in the world with one of the highest scores ever achieved: 99.36 out of 100.

    The building also achieved LEED Gold certification for sustainable construction.

    With a sustainable operating model, it has a higher energy efficiency than the international standard for datacenters.

    A Wastewater Treatment Plant set up in the building enabled the reuse of non-potable water, including rainwater, water for flush toilets and cleaning in general.

    During construction, the concern with the building's ecological footprint was present from the earthwork, foundations, choice of building materials to its finish.
    All chemicals in the materials used in the construction were identified and their pollution levels monitored by expert consultants.

  • Project differentials

    As the building is located in a residential area, the acoustic treatment of areas with noisy equipment was taken very seriously.

     

    Special wall cladding was used for acoustic insulation so as to avoid any impact on the quality of life of the neighbors to the building.

     

    Waterproofing insulation was the most critical aspect of the project as datacenters need protection against weather, thermal and chemical conditions.


    Specific materials and techniques were used to guarantee maximum performance at an adequate cost for the client.

     

    This is a mission critical facility and there was considerable complexity to accommodate high-tech equipment and high performance materials as regards their quality, comfort and aesthetic standards.
